i'm not realli sum1 who conscientiously reads the papers and stuff, but i woke up to an interesting morning today.

headlines on CNA, about Pope Benedict's comment made me stuck to CNA man. i just feel the need to blog abt this man. heh.

of course, i've done my reasearch and a bit of homework and yes i see where the anger and misunderstanding is coming from.

If you guys have a chance, go catch some excerpts on the Pope's speech on BBC website. that would give you a better picture of the speech. of course you wun get a chance to read the whole speech, that would take you like half an hour or so. not to mention, the person typing it would take like close to an hour, i guess..at the minimum.

anyway, in my view, the quote used in his speech by the Byzantine emperor, seriously, it's an inappropriate quote la. had i not read the excerpts, i would flare up too. i understand he juz wanted to denounce the r'ship b/w violence and religion, with regards to today's world where terrorism my muslim org reigns. but i think that's the inappropriate quote to use man. seriously.

erm, by quoting as such, it is as if, he shares the belief as the Byzantine emperor that the Muslim Prophet was indeed violent, which he was not. the quote cited was in reference to the Muslim Prophet Muhammad as being violent. it was a direct quote, and he used the quote directly to state how faith cannot be spread via violence. and that is sumtink pretty( in fact very) insulting.

what i tot was that he could haf used more modern examples now..(if he wanted to use them).

so yeah, i tink that's his major major mistake in the speech, but i dun realli deny that he had quite positive intentions. though, im not in a position to judge his view regarding religions.

well, that's that for the Pope. on the Muslim side, i realli dun tink that to protest thru violence is a good way to rid the stigma of Islam and violence. yeah, true, we demand apology from the Pope(which i think he should make an analysis of his speech on TV to prove his intentions and maybe even an apology) but, let the leaders handle that. the more we, Muslims, are enraged and infuriated, then technically, we've already kinda lost the credibility of being non-violent. you guys get what i mean?

tho today's world is filled w violent and all, call me cliche or corny, i still believe in the saying "Peace beget peace". it realli is true, we're not seeing this globally because people juz refuse to resolve via peaceful means. that's sad.

and i'm still quite disappointed that there are certain Muslim terms that are still not understood.
i seriously dun tink that 'jihad' specifically means "holy war". if i remembered correctly, wat i was taught was that, "jihad" is a form of "effort" or "sacrifice".

let's say for example, although it's raining like super heavily, i still feel enthusiastic and make my way to school. now that's a form of jihad. or if im sick and still go to school because i want to learn, that is another form of jihad cos it's a form of sacrifice, some sort. it doesnt necessarily need to be holy war. if they wanna use the term "holy war" then just use the term "holy war", leave "jihad" outta picture.

and one more, Prophet Muhammad, is not the founder of Islam. there were many prophets before him and he was the last Prophet there was. and there can be no other Prophet after Prophet Muhammad. why we refer to Prophet Muhammad as our Prophet because he is. He's the Prophet whom we, today's generation of Muslims and generations to come, will look up to, becos he's the last Prophet ever. that's why he's so significant. before Prophet Muhammad's era, there were other Prophets and they were significant during their time.

it's rare that i blog about global issue, but i tot this issue is realli rather interesting, a case of misunderstanding nearing extreme. ahah.

anyway, on a lighter note, this news is good content for GP, in case there's question on peace and discrimination and such.

this post is not a "hate" post to anyone, it's just my neutral view on how things were, and how tihngs should've been to actualli prevent this conflict between the Vatican and the Muslim world. i hope leaders learn from this mistake. it's all this one-liner mistakes that cause so much trouble in the world la. sad rite?

it's all in the details people. life is about details. take care!
